Best Makeup Looks for Different Indian Wedding Ceremonies
Haldi, mehendi, sangeet, wedding, reception — five ceremonies, five genuinely different briefs.
Wearing one look across a whole wedding is the most common mistake, and the easiest to avoid.
Haldi
The brief is survival. Cream products only, waterproof everything, and accept that it is coming off. Glossy lid, balm, cream blush. You will be photographed constantly and you should look joyful, not finished.
Mehendi
Long, hot, and stationary. Makeup has to sit for six hours without being touched, because your hands will be occupied. Dewy base, warm lid, a lip that does not need reapplying.
Sangeet
It has to dance. Locked base, defined eyes that will not migrate, and a lip that survives dinner.
Wedding day
The heaviest outfit, the largest room, the most photographs. This is where definition earns its place — but the base still has to read as skin in close-up.
Reception
Evening light flattens faces. Sculpt more than feels right in daylight, go deeper on the lip, and keep the skin luminous so it catches whatever light there is.
